Meet the Makers
Gypsy Life is Jessica and Preston, a traveling duo who play the music behind what we make. Preston crafts every flute with hand tools and plays each one before it leaves us. Jessica keeps the rhythm on the shaman drum and the spirit of the shop alive. Wherever the road takes us, we bring the sound with us.

Flute Wisdom for Fellow Seekers
How long does it take to learn a 5-hole wooden flute?
Most beginners find their first clear note on a Gypsy Life flute within minutes. Each flute plays the minor pentatonic scale, so every note flows into the next with no wrong turns. No sheet music, no rules, just breath and intention. Many players are making their first simple songs on day one.
What key flute is best for beginners?
The A flute is our most-loved flute for beginners. Its voice sits in a warm middle range that blends beautifully with drums, singing bowls and your own voice. Lower keys sing deeper and stretch the hands wider, so A is a gentle, welcoming place to begin your journey.
What is a drone flute?
A drone flute is two flutes made side by side as one instrument. One side has five finger holes for your melody. The other holds a steady, humming note in the same key beneath it. Played together, they weave a deep, layered sound that seems to fill the whole room.
How do you care for a handmade wooden flute?
Keep your wooden flute dry, out of hot cars and away from direct heat. After playing, let it rest and breathe until dry, and feed the wood a thin layer of flute balm when it looks thirsty. Every Gypsy Life flute comes with our handmade sunflower seed oil and beeswax flute balm and a care guide.
